Participation is available in virtually dozens of sports and activities in the greater Atlanta area. For example, there are more than 40 public golf courses to choose from and horseback riding is offered at several Atlanta stables as well as in the mountain areas north of the city. Below is a list of some amateur sports clubs and organizations that can provide more information. If you enjoy water sports, you should visit Lakes Lanier and Allatoona or the Chattahoochee River for great fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, canoeing and rafting. The Appalachian Trail begins just an hour north of the city, and if you like to snow ski, there are many ski resorts within an easy drive from Atlanta.

The Georgia Renaissance Festival

Walk the cobbled streets of the original downtown Atlanta.
